In the modern world of brewing there’s a lot of talk about the beers predating the American prohibition era. A time before the point when American lagers were defined by the word “light”. When beers were malty, and full bodied, with a refreshing bitterness. That’s the kind of beer we’ve brewed, but to modest 3,5% ABV (the highest allowed strength of the Swedish “peoples beer” or “folköl”). And we’ve added a modern hop character to it., to get that hoppy nose…
That’s what we call a Modern Pre-Prohibition Style Folköl
Oh… You wonder why it’s called The Leaky Bucket? Well… anyone who has had a couple of folköls knows…

330m bottle bought from djoeye. Clingy lacing from a pearl white head. Bright golden body. Hints of pale malts and bread on the nose. Modest flavours of grainy grass, weak hints of caramel. Watered. About drinkable (Tromsø 08.08.2015).

Clear golden color with a fine frothy white head. Malty and herbal hoppy. Medium light body and a fine carbonation. Moderate sweet and a moderate bitterness. Plain mild caramel malty and mild herbal hoppy flavor. Decent ok 3,5% Swedish grocery store lager. Lawn mover thirst quencher in the sun.

Bottled, from ICA, Tyresö. Clear golden, minimal head. Metallic aroma with hints of citrus and boiled vegetables. Sweetish with light body and sharp mouthfeel. Some perfumy elderflower trying to cover a mediocre beer. Fairly low bitterness in a finish where aluminium dominates. Tastes like a leaky aluminium bucket: rain water and metal.

Bottle. Pours golden. Very little aroma of malt. Smooth, almost like a bitter, hops and some vegetables.

Flaska från ICA. Ljus, fräsch, kaxig och uppkäftig. Nix. Jordig, sumpig doft som mer påminner om billiga marknadsföringstrix. Vattning munkänsla med en störande sur ton i bakgrunden.

33 cl bottle, BB 01 OCT15. Sampled on April 23, 2015.Thanks to an event during GBG Beer Week.Clear golden color, medium sized white head. Scent is weak, with off-notes towards DMS and other vegetal and sulphury notes, not pleasant. Hints of hard candy, chewing gum, sugary aroma as well. Weak malty, cream, mineral taste. Very flat and metallic aftertaste, dry papery finish. Weak mouthfeel, low bitterness. Boring, bland, off-notes, really not for me.
