This very special dark ale has been brewed in small batches and then matured in hand-selected, first-fill bourbon casks to give it its rich, rounded character.
Notes of brown sugar, orange oil and coconut are complemented by an earthy freshness from the hops, and the 30 days the beer's spent in oak have ensured a satisfyingly smooth finish.
Malt: I & G ale malt, crystal malt, amber malt, roasted barely
Hops: Super styrian
Maturation: 30 days in first-fill American bourbon barrels

Innis and gun holiday pack at the lcbo. Labeled as bourbon dark ale.
Big bourbon oak aroma, some light fruit, and bready cereals. Low bitterness, quite sweet, big earthy vanilla, and brown sugar.

Bottled (from Systembolaget). Dark brown colour, not that much head. Aroma is caramel, some of the typical diacetylic elements with mild bourbon (vanilla and wood as well as a bit alcohol sweetness). Flavour is very sweet ripe fruits, alcohol, some honey, peppery tones with mild wooden notes as well as some mild vanilla. Rather sweet, much sweeter than most of their other beers.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured an almost black color with faint orange highlights and a medium sized creamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was wood, cola, vague herbs, bread crust, licorice and molasses. The flavor was woody and a bit astringent with molasses, cola and an herbal note. Medium length finish. Medium body.

Bottle. Pours black with fast dissipating tan head. Light barrel and peat aroma with malt. Flavour is very good, malt, vanilla, smoke, and roast. Doesn't taste as strong as it is. Medium roast and smoke finish.
