Picked up at the Beer Shop in The Corn Exchange, Leeds. Consumed at home, on Loz’s birthday Saturday 14th November 2015. Super coffee nose, Soft in mouth creamy and with loads of cappuccino, wow so smooth and with a bitter roasty bite. Thick in the mouth really full flavoured, roasty and coffee linger across the roof of the mouth. Lovely beer. A8 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 4.0

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail
Pours pitch black with a thick brown head. Quite intense and untypical aroma of stingy burnt espresso beans, roasty malts, ash, tobacco, wood, hints of leather and loads of herbal notes. Taste is complex, roasty and heavy with coffee, espresso and herbal notes, hints of berries, tobacco, hops and spices. Finish is smooth, roasty and hoppy with some coffee, espresso and mocha notes. Quite untypical, but pretty tasty still.

Opaque dark brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry with modest fine carbonation. Rich dark malts with a tangy coffee turning mildly bitter. Tangy dark fruits. Smooth dry finish. A bit on the bitter side for me and a tiny bit chewy.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Pitch black, dark orange head. Lots of coffee in the nose, green coffee, coffee flavoured candy - this totally dominates the malts. Some booze in the background. The taste is, again, coffee, roasty acidity, but not much proper roast. Restrained sweetness, low hop bitterness. The alcohol slightly emphasizes the overall intensity. The body is not that creamy and smooth as you would expect. Nice, but not outstanding.
