(bottle) Clear, dark brown colour with a beige and short foamy layer. Sweetish roast-malty, bready and crusty aroma with caramel, coffee and a whiff of vanilla. Roast-bitter and moderately sweet flavour, almost medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Roasty malt-character with notes of bread crusts, caramel and shy hints of coffee and subtle hints of dried fruits; roasty bitter and sweet finish with a moderate length. 17.III.10

Bottled@Björntasting. Very deep amber, near black, colour with small off-white head. Aroma is fruits, mild ashes and some slight notes of sugar. Flavour is ashy, burnt sugary, fruity as well as roasted malty. A bit thin on the palate, otherwise rather nice.

Bottled. Near black, beige head. Chocolate aroma. Sweet and soft, medium bodied, nicely rounded. Caramel and chocolate combine to a nice mud cake flavour. Low bitterness. Good!

The bottle looks very good, the beer in the glass also, deep black, nice head. Starts soft malty, not too roasty, fruity like plum. Fine notes of liquorice, modest sweet, very well balanced. Warming finish. Didn’t have such a good schwarzbier for a long time.

Perfekt! *** BTO 07/2006

Draught at the brewpub. Subtle sweet and roasted aroma. Black colour, small light brown head. The flavour is roasted and slightly sweet. Subtle and well-balanced. More full-bodied than usual for style.
