After a trip to New Zealand at the start of the year our head brewer brewed with Fortune Favours, a new brewery in the heart of Wellington, the epicentre of the NZ craft beer scene. After tasting each other’s beer (he took Squid Ink with him) they decided they had to collaborate. So after a number of emails and a Skype session Oystercatcher was born. Brewed on the same day on opposite sides of the world. This beer is fuller than a classic stout and has with a hint of tropical fruit with splashes of spices and grapefruit (kiwis can’t help but add a load of hops). It is rich enough to serve as a winter warmer, and refreshing enough to restore, perfect for both hemispheres.

Cask-conditioned at the Siren's Calling, Portishead 24/12/2018. Near black in colour, with reddish undertones and a slight, off-white, head. Dark fruits, some leafy hops, a touch of chocolate and toasty malts before a dryish, creamy finish. Enjoyable.
