To celebrate our 100th batch of beer, we departed from our traditional brewing methods and simply filled our mash tun with a much grain as it would hold. The result was this: a rich and roasty stout with layers of dark chocoalte and a think creamy head, in that same playful spirit, we continue to brew our batch 100 today.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Dutchdrebus. Opaque very dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through when held into the light, looks almost black but if you look carefully it’s not, average sized beige to light brown head that diminishes but lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, dark malts, roast, a hint of coffee and a hint of liquorice. Taste malts, roasted malts, slightly coffee, decently bitter, some liquorice in there as well. A bit thin bodied, medium carbonation. Not bad at all.

Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy and fairly dry. Modest fine carbonation, Roasty but thin dark malts, some roast bitterness. Touch of dry dark chocolate, the high cacao kind. Mild dark malt cream, dry. Finishes dry and roasty bitter. Not bad, needs something to elevate it from the dark dryness.

Slightly roasty dark malty aroma with nuttily notes, a herbal touch, cautious hints of blueberry, a touch of liquorice.
