The 2020 release of Three Ryes Men barrel-aged barleywine brewed with multiple types of rye and aged a second time in apple brandy barrels. The base Three Ryes Men features a full body with malt driven caramel and chocolate notes, evoking a liquid rolo, and the second aging in brandy adds a depth of spicy fruit and calvados. A returning favorite from last year.

Flaska från Hopt, 2020. Kopparbrun med beige krona. Faten verkligen i förgrunden. Samma redan i vanliga bourbon-varianten, men här taget ännu ett steg längre. Kryddigt, stor hetta och bra riv, ek, tjärpastill, kolaremmar, torkad frukt. Sticker nästan på tungan.

Taster shared with Matt. Appearance: hazy copper with a tan head. Aroma: a lot of sweet red apple notes with barrel character. Taste: harsh and boozy, lots of barrel and apples. Overall: still quite good.

On tap at Reuben's Brews, pours a dark rusty reddish brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out intense, somewhat hot brandy barrels, caramel, and dark fruits. Flavour is extremely intense, with somewhat brutal brandy barrels, caramel, and dark fruits. While the booze may not be over the top, the harshness from the barrel is rather abrasive. Good, but I prefer the original.
