Thunder Road is a british-style Barleywine that will dance across your palate. Rich and smooth malt notes blend gracefully with a warming booziness, followed by slight lingering notes of graham cracker and toffee. A healthy dose of hops play sidekick to the malt notes in this beer, providing just enough bitterness, as well as floral and earthy notes.

On tap at Elizabeth Station, pours a deep dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted bready malt, plenty of caramel, and resinous hops. Flavour is sweet yet bold, with lots of caramel malt, toffee, bready malt, and resinous hops. The sweetness is there, but it's kept in check by a forceful hop presence. British barley wine? No British barley wine would be this heavily hopped. Whatever it is, it's quite tasty. Very good.

5oz @ home. Appearance: almost clear copper with a tan head. Aroma: caramel, candied citruses, sweetness, some dark fruits. Taste: along the same lines, quite heavy, lots of dark fruits and caramel, a bit boozy. Finishes with noticeable hoppy bitterness. Overall: pretty nice representative of the style, but because of being quite bitter it tends to be more American BW, not a British one.
