On tap at Wren House, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out spicy oak barrels from the rye, medium roast and a hint of vanilla. Flavour is nicely blended, with plenty of oak barrels, some rye, and light vanilla. Blended well but not hugely complex. Good blend.

Pint can pours with a dark chocolate to deep mahogany colored body that supports a lasting tan head foam. The aroma offers up modest wafts of whiskey and a touch of oak quickly leading to the sweet smells of chocolate, molasses, more chocolate and hints of dark fruity esters. The taste delivers smooth sweetened and softened chocolate notes as well as a dash of molasses leading to thin layers of barrel treatment whiskey like notes. The flavors are well integrated. Toward the finish murmurs of date to plum sweet dark fruity esters are noticed. Another sip reveals a faint spicy oak like sensation just noticeable amidst the chocolate and fudge. Solid sipper.
