On tap at Fierce Beer - Edinburgh, pours a hazy dark orangey with a medium beige head. Aroma brings brings out toasted caramel malt, bready notes, and resinous hops, but none of it is cohesive. Flavour is robust, with intense caramel bready malt, booze, resinous hops, and just a touch of bourbon. It's not balanced well at all, nor do the elements cohere. Why blend a barley wine and IPA rather than just brewing a hoppy barley wine? This is jagged and messy but not terrible and becomes more convincing with each sip.
