Barleywine is a classic style that has changed quite a bit over the years. We brewed two completely different interpretations. One leaned towards American traditions with a lighter body and more citrus hops (Etym) and the other was a more classic, malt-forward English style (Ology). After some patient aging in Elijah Craig Bourbon barrels, we blended the two to create this bold & balanced beer. This barleywine is full of flavors like toffee, toasted nuts, Tootsie Rolls, baked bread, and dark dried fruit. The complexity rewards the slow sipper who allows the glass to warm a bit, bringing out the depth of its character.

Aged in 12-year-old and 14-year-old Elijah Craig Bourbon barrels.

On tap at Fort George - Lovell Taproom, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out brown sugar, bourbon barrels, and molasses. Flavour is rich and complex, with lots of bourbon barrels, dark dried fruits, and molasses. Rich, decadent and complex. Complex and refined. Excellent.
