Cask (gravity) @ Nottingham Robin Hood Beer Festival (2014), Nottingham Castle, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England NG1 6EL. [ As 1648 Black Velvet ].Clear dark brown color with a average, open and frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, licorice, roasted. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20141008]

Bottle. Flat looking black beer with little head. The aroma is quite soar with an oaty hint. The flavour is sour with bitterness. Overall a disappointing stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tried at Nottingham Beer Festival 2014. This was 5.5%. Black with tan head. Roasted malts, chocolate, oats and a sweetish finish. Overall a good beer.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 4/11/2013. Jet black with a slight tan head. Roasty malts, some sweetish chocolate, a hint of porridge oat and dryish finish. Good.
