2023: Inspired by the layered joy of a mexican hot-chocolate, our decidedly grown-up tribute is aged for a year in tequila barrels. Judicious additions of chilies, habanero peppers, cinnamon, and vanilla yield an immersive flavor experience. The heat is present, but subdued, allowing a fuller expression of both the chilies and habanero peppers. The tequila barrel character becomes more prominent on the finish, well-complemented by subtle vanilla and cinnamon notes.
2025: Inspired by the layered joy of a Mexican hot-chocolate, our decidedly grown-up tribute is aged for a year in tequila barrels. Judicious additions of ancho, guajillo, and toasted habanero chiles, cinnamon, and four vanilla varieties (Mexico, Peru, Tanzania, and Comoros) complement flavors of rich fudge and lightly roasted coffee. The heat of the chiles is present, but subdued, allowing each facet of this beer to shine.

On tap at RidgeWood, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out gentle tequila barrels, light cinnamon and a hint of vanilla. Flavour reveals plenty of chilis upfront, some cinnamon, and almost no tequila. Could use more barrel character, as I don't think I'd detect tequila here if I didn't know. Lingering chili character. Good but not how I'd want this designed.

500 mL bottle poured, at Hop and Hound. Last beer of the working year, so wanted to make it a good one. Cola near black pour. Intense aroma with obvious tequila notes and some spice. Flavor is mostly smooth, a cocoa and cinnamon spice bite. Pairs well with the barrel, and dries it a bit. Lingering tequila and spice. Soft chocolate late. Very good brew here
