As big fans of geuze-style beers, we wanted to give our own spontaneous fermentation beer a go. To our own surprise, with success. Aside from our own Spierelambiek - our spontaneously fermented beer named after a tiny river that runs near the brewery - we use two traditional lambieks from the valley of the Senne (close to Brussels) to make a blend. One, two and three year old lambieks are used in Mirakel, our own miracle.

75 cl bottle @ Nurmo. Bottled 04/2020, BBE 25.04.2024 Aroma has grapefruit and earthy tones - feels like gueuze. Flavour has grapefruit, earthy notes, some sour cream and green apples. Flat palate, low on CO2. Lingering milky sourness. Acidic and good.

750ml bottle of the 2019 vintage. It pours clear golden with a loose, bubbly white cap. The aroma is funky, musty, damp leaves, , twist of citrus, lime, quite bright, white grape, gooseberry, sherbet, oak and fizzy candy. The taste is crisp, firmly, dry, some bright, zingy, citrus peel, limey, sherbet, sour candy, gooseberry, white grape, wood, light tannin, dried leaves, mild acidity and some funk with a drying finale. Medium body and just a vague hint of carbonation (would be nice to have a touch more tbh). Very drinkable and strikes a nice balance.

75cl bottle from Sophies Beer Store. Shared with Soph and Paul on Soph's lockdown birthday. Misty gold, good white head that recedes. Brilliant wild floral aroma. Great rounded lambic bursting with a bristling woody complexity, some lemon citrus moments. Great stuff.

Capped 750 from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours lightly translucent dark gold with a transient white head. Smells lactic and a little musty. Med body. Light carbonation. Musty and lactic. Dry as a bone. Not bitter, but the tartness/lactic covers for that. Very tasty. Gueuze it is.

Bottle picked up from Etre Gourmet Webshop, Grez-Doiceau, Belgium and consumed at home, Sunday 19th July 2020 cooking a Tagine and Tuna Fish Samosas, listening to Protomartyr - Ultimate Success Today. Pours gold orange, hazy with hardly any carbonation. Light lemony traits, funky with a little dry edge, however all things considered this is a bit of a disappointment.

2019 bottle. Deep gold with a ring of bubbles around the rim. Aroma of the laundry, oak, old lemons, some toast, autumnal fruit. Very close to flat. Gently sour with old lemons and oak, some quince and pear. Doesn't quite have the depth suggested by the aroma and could use a few more bubbles. But pretty good.

750ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, opalescent, orangey golden colour with a layer of white, macropore bubbles on top. Woody, grassy, minimally vinous fruity aroma, hints of white grapes, unripe berries, a touch of grass and sorrel. Taste is slightly dry, mildly tart, vinous, woody, slightly tangy, minimally grassy, minimally funky, hints of white grapes, green wood, unripe berries. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally astringent palate, soft carbonation. Very mild, unagressive, balanced, rather grassy and herbal.
