The ultimate suburban brew, Backyahd is an aggressively hopped American IPA with a tantalizing hop aroma. The beer’s bitterness pairs perfectly with spicy foods coming straight off the grill. Enjoy it with friends, family, or whomever you choose. After all, it’s your Backyahd.

Can bought at GBBF 2019. Pine aroma with some citrus and resin. Hazy pale copper gold. Thick foamy head. Medium bitter. Develops a sour citrus streak. Resinous core. Light-medium bodied. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. Does what's expected of an IPA but does not maintain interest.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Trader Joe’s. Aroma is faint herbs and citrus, cracker/bread. Appearance is hazy pale yellow with decent sparkle, finger-width white head with poor retention and trace lacing. Taste is citrus with light cracker malt backbone. Palate is medium bodied with foamy carbonated texture, dry finish. Overall, this isn’t much of anything. Pretty weak all around. If you had a friend who swore they hated IPA’s, give them this--there’s no way they could be offended.

Can. Hazy deep gold with a frothy white head. Light aroma of toasted grain, raw grain and resin. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of caramel, floral hops and raw grain. Light on the hops for an "aggressively hopped American IPA."

This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was basically a slightly hazy burnt orange color with no head nor lacing.
The smell had a sweet citrus to bitter citrus over top of sweet caramel malts.
The taste was mainly sweet through the hops and malts. There’s a decent background of bitterness there, it’s just not substantially over the top. There’s a lingering sweet hops to malts aftertaste.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation runs like an AIPA, substantially smooth enough to fulfill a nice bitterness.
Overall, nothing bad, it’s just nothing over the top. Could make a decent grilling beer.

A nice tropical fruit nose that eases into the flavor, some bitterness but overall a nice IPA. Almost wish it were more sessionable, 6% ABV just pushes it out of range to have a stack of these next to the grill.

Location: Can at Ogie's Trailer Park, 3/28/15
Aroma: Light hoppy aroma, lemon, grass, pine.
Appearance: Clear good color, small head, light lace.
Flavor: Clean, light bitter flavor.
Palate: Smooth and clean, dry finish, and slightly metallic.
Overall Impression: Love the name. It forces you to do a bad New England accent when ordering, which is always fun.
