Saaz and Hallertau hops provide a clean, floral aroma with minimal hop bitterness. Fruity/spicy flavors from the yeast are perfectly balanced with the sweetness of Belgian candy sugar. Notes of apricot and pear linger nicely against a dry finish.

Sample from 355 ml. bottle, Amagerbro Beerfest 2015. Hazy, deep golden colour with a thin, white head. Fruity aroma with oranges, peaches and apricot. Floral hops. Taste is sweet. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and a lively carbonation. Finishes slightly dry and rich fruity with spices, banana and a slight hint of booze. Lovely Tripel.

2.5$ at vintage. Twist off cap some sediment haze vanilla yellah. Odd metallic processed olfactory. Does appear viscous. Banana heavy alky laced hefe. Belgian yeasty feeling all over. Almost metallic. I think I’m getting dizzy. Not as refined as the well defined trippels of the old country. Thick viscous finish Nice label to look at. Does have some slight sizzle in it. But personality is overriding in this one, trippel alky personality that is not well hid. I’m getting nervous and dizzy at the same time near the end of the session.

330ml bottle from favourite beers, Cheltenham. Slightly hazy golden colour. Little white head, that evaporated. Aroma hits with sweetness, the taste is good but slightly too sweet, also yeasty, i also really noticed the strong alcohol in the taste.

Tar, hay, candied pear nose. Clear amber, medium head. Dry hay, slightly sweet pear finish. Slight cardboard. Medium body. Strangely lagery. Not an awful beer, but doesn’t live up to the standards of the style.

12 ounce bottle into chalice, bottled on 7/22/2014. Pours hazy golden orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, light bubblegum, wheat, bread, candi sugar, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and pale/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, light bubblegum, wheat, bread, candi sugar, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, light bubblegum, wheat, bread, candi sugar, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast and pale/bready malt flavors; with a nice malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Tripel style. All around good complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast and pale/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

12 ounce bottle from Midtowne Bottle Shop, Harrisonburg. Pours a hazy yellow color with a medium sized frothy white head. Good head retention. Aroma of candi sugar, appropriately enough, pale malt, caramel, bread, banana, mild booze. The taste is bready malt, candi sugar, bread, banana, spicy hops. Medium bodied, slight lingering spice, slight warming alcohol. Solid.

Slightly hazy amber and copper coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of caster sugar, yeast, alcohol, bananas, curacao and a bit of basementy funk. Medium-bodied; Dense strong flavour of yeast and caster sugar up front with strong notes of curacao, full oranges, honey, perfume, alcohol and a lot of sweetness. Aftertaste shows mostly yeastie notes with a strong sugar flavour, some subdued honey and unfinished wort notes and a little bitterness from alcohol. Overall, with the ratings as low as they are, I expected worse. This one isn’t the worst beer i’ve had and it’s not a drain pour, but of course, it’s not the best tripel ’ve had. Still, unfortunately a sad reminder of the beer this (kind of) company used to make when it was in the Old Dominion and not in Delaware. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom), DC on 13-January-2014 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 28-February-2014.
