The Grateful Deaf Zythos Black IPA is exactly what the name implies… It’s a Black IPA that has been hopped to the high heavens with heaps of delicious zythos hops that were graciously donated by Hopunion. Though a dark beer it remains crisp and not overly roasty.

Tap at Solera, Parkdale, 24/05/13. Murky mahogony brown with a thin beige head. Nose is hops, pine, grapefruit, bitter orange. Taste comprises tarte grapefruit, pine bite, hops, orange pith. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish. Ok - but not a great, the balance wasn’t quite there for me, a little too tarte and lacking the roast and subtle chocolate tones of a good CDA.
