Tap at Bend Brewing Co, Bend, 23/05/13. Clear golden with a thin off white head. Nose is malt, grain, light spice, touch of fruit. Taste comprises caramel, biscuit, bread, dark fruits, light spice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation. Drinkable but pretty average, lacks depth in the flavour that a decent heller bock should carry.

Sample at the brewpub. Dark orange pour with a medium creamy white head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma is malty with some pungent hops in the background. Medium body with flavors of earthy hops, sweet malt and fruit. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at the Brewpub: Pours orange with a smaller white head and good lacing. Nose is sweet and fruity, citrus and malt. Taste is consistent with the aroma and adds a caramel and malty note. Very light bitters. One of the better maibocks sampled this season.
