Bottle @ Hotel Three Corners, Budapest. Label say "Barley Wine" and is 12 %ABV, new? Pours hazy brown with a light tan head, lacings. Aroma of malt, caramel, wood, nuts, toffee, light hops, alcohol. Flavor is sweet, malt, caramel, light tartness, wood, alcohol. Full body, soft carbonation, sweet finish with some warming alcohol. 010415

0.33l bottle. Hazy dark amber body, light brown head. The aroma and taste are almost plain caramel but it also has some cloves to it. Pretty one dimensional.

Bottled 330ml. -Gramm or print error has been corrected so now this is "Barley Wine", and also ABV is 12.0%. Deep brown coloured, small beige head that stays for a while, some spices and alcohol in the nose. Roasted malt (slight acidic), some notes of dried fruits and caramel with pretty intensive sauerkraut presence in the finish. Something is really messed up here...and for sure this isn’t style that is stated.

well, it had only a very few chance to be rated as a great barley wine, since it was tasted right after a glass of Anchor Old foghorn and Mikkeller/Three Floyds Boogoop, but to be honest, it is the worst barley wine I have ever tasted; it is a shame to indicate it as a barley wine (or as a ’barely wine’ as the brewers named it); it has no barley wine character at all; some grassy hop aroma and taste with sauerkraut, and nothing else; it was a mistake to buy it and one of the worst value for money...just a bit better than a glass of horse pee
