Claritas is our 2016 World Beer Cup–winning Kölsch ale. This refreshingly smooth, authentically German beer is light straw in color, infused with light fruit and bready aromatics from the German Pilsner malt, hops, and yeast. The result is a smooth and dry ale with a refreshingly clean finish.

Draft at Sea World. Pours a clear, bright, yellow color, with a fair, foamy, white head. The aroma is orange juice, quinine, butterscotch, and hay. Dry and zesty, with a mellow bitterness. Light, pithy, and sharp. Refreshing and quality.

Can from Beer Republic. Grainy aroma with straw, soft grassy hoppy notes, and a hint of citrus. Sweetish and moderate bitter flavour with a medium body. Pretty superb Kölsch.

Clear pale golden colour, good frothy white head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma pale malts, grain, pear, grass. Smooth taste, light to medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, pear, melon. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, malty sweetbitter aftertaste, fruity notes. I like this smooth and crisp beer very much, good.

Sample at the North Park taproom. Slightly hazy pale golden color with a medium thin white head that evaporates quickly to a wispy film. Spotty lace. Aroma of yeast, malt and fruit. Light-bodied with flavors of bready malt, fruit and mild grassy hops. The finish is mildly bitter with a fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.

12oz can pours with a clear gold body that supports a thin light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up floral hops, a bit of sweet bread and then a dash of lime candy. The taste delivers a blend of bitter floral hops, a mild lime sensation and then sugary malt sweetened spicy onion hoppiness. Toward the finish the sweetness builds up to distracting levels for the style but performs better than most American brewed versions. Whoa, wait. The second 6oz only became sweeter and sweeter with each sip. When will US brewers get a clue about this style.
