Bottle from Garsons Farm, nr Esher. Enjoyable hazy burnt vanilla aroma. Darkest brown, the beige head is thin and just hugs the inside of the glass. The tastes strikes me straightaway as being somewhat subdued. Light bitter with sweet elements that make it take a on a sourness. Charcoal finish. Light bodied. Watery. Flat carbonation. Middling finish. The aroma raised my hopes but this isn’t even middle of the road, it’s barely there. Nearly drained the glass searching for something, anything. At least it’s not minging.

Gravity dispense at the Crown, Horsell, Spring Bank BF 26/05/14. Light black with little in the way of any headwork. Nose is roast malt, liqourice, chocolate, vanilla. Taste comprises milk chocolate hobnobs, light roast, aniseed, hint of vanilla. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light dryness in the close underlying sweet notes. Decent enough porter, be nice to try on cask as opposed to the variable quality of gravity!
