2024 Variant. Boxed pint can from Total Wine Appleton, 3/3/25 Black, large tan head, average retention. Aroma of strong vanilla, oak, whiskey, roast, chocolate. Taste is chocolate, roast, whiskey, raisin, vanilla, caramel, oak. Well balanced. Nice.

On tap at Surly, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma is full of rum barrels upfront, followed by vanilla, and subtle bourbon further back�plenty of dark sugars and roast to back. Flavour is extremely rich, with intense rum barrels, roasted malt, light vanillin, and gentle bourbon. Massive rum and wood character, borderline brutal and overbearing, but it�s nice in 1-2 ounces. Very solid.
