Light, bright, crisp, & refreshing, creeping devil is a classic west coast pale ale, with bright and tangy aromas of tangerine, fresh melon, & grapefruit, balanced by soft, delicate florals. Firm but pleasant bitterness, with a light & fruity palate, & a clean, bright finish, this is a perfect hoppy beer to enjoy during the dog days of summer. Named after a genus of cactus native to the Baja peninsula. Known for its unique & spiny shape, it lies on the ground and grows from one end while the other end dies. This migrating growth pattern inspired its scientific name “eruca”, which translates to caterpillar. Its long, sharp spines and high mescaline gives it the colloquial nickname “creeping devil”

Sampled from the tap at Lovecraft. Pours a near clear light gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has light citrus and a good amount grass and light hay backing. Flavor is grass forward with a touch of citrus and a hint of tropical fruits supporting.

On tap at Phantom Fox, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is subdued, with light citrus hops and dry biscuity malt. Flavour is fairly fruity, with gentle citrus hops, some stone fruitiness, and biscuity malt. Juicy, citrusy and well-balanced. Good stuff.
