Gravity cask at the 2017 Cambridge Beer Festival. The pinky-mauve colour is alarming. Bit hazy with a tiny ring of white head. Light watermelon notes in the subdued aroma. Tastes quite nice. Thereis a gentle juicy sourness to offset the sweetness, and the beetroot shines through a bit. More melon, some cherry in the aftertaste. Palate is thicker than I thought it would be. Verdict: the beetroot isn’t really vegetal at all, but adds a nice fruitiness. The beer lacks the depth I’m used to from Bexar County but it is worth trying and certainly refreshes on a hot afternoon. A good way to get your superfood!!
