On tap at the brewery. Pours black with small tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roast, cocoa, cracker malt. Thick body, chewy, roast, chocolate, cracker, light dry finish, good.

Nitro at Stapleton Tap House - black pour - nose of smoke, anise, espresso, raisin - flavor is a nice.balance of sweetness, roast, and a mildly tannic acidity - tastes of smoke, vanilla, bitter chocolate - alcohol heat is a bit high, making the finish too boozy, but otherwise a strong showing.

A very dark brown beer, clear looking, and with a dense, finger-thick light tan head on top. The aroma has beef stock, roasted malts, chocolate, molasses notes and some caramel. It’s full-bodied and very smooth on the palate, hiding the 9.8% ABV very well. Some warmth though. Roasted malts, molasses and caramel, with chocolate and some beef stock in the flavor. Rather bitter towards the end, both in the hoppy and roasted malts kind of way. Pretty nice this one, but I’d like it a bit too sweeter. 14129
