Mermaids, those mysterious aquatic lovelies, have popped up all over the world in legend since 1000 BC. No scientific evidence has ever surfaced to support their existence, but we’re not ones to argue with folklore.
A light-bodied, crisp-drinking, nicely hopped lager. A heavy-handed addition of rye malt adds a mild spiciness, which is balanced by a light, fruity, floral hop aroma.

A beer in my last delivery from Halftime, a 12 oz can. Low anticipation, it is a pilsner. Using a snifter for my tastings this evening, I pour to see a clear and bright yellow body topped by a consistent head of white foam. Lots of carbonation. The smell is pretty full for the style, I get citrus, grain and an indication of sweetness. I lift the glass and take a drink. Straw, lemon, crackers, cereal, malt and paper. Small, equal amounts of sweet and bitter. I would drink again.

On tap. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has straw and grains with a bit of grass and hay underlying. Flavor has grains and grass with sweet straw and a bit of hay supporting.

Draught at Brooklyn Bowl, 6/9/17.
Clear, hay-and-straw yellow body is well-carbonated and is topped by a medium-sized, white head of moderately-low retention.
Light citrus (lemon) and dried herbs quickly take back seat to the strong biscuit and cereal-like maltiness. Maybe a touch of wax/plastic, but it’s pretty clean, for the most part. Pretty low aromatics, overall, but no alcohol or resinous hops detected.
Attenuation proves to be a bit lower than I’d like, and over the course of the pint, a bit of cereal and cakey sweetness builds up. But there’s some (slightly grainy) biscuit character to somewhat balance it, while hop bitterness is moderate to low. Light citrus and floral aspects and not too bastardized, but for the thicker than average body here. Again very light plastic/wax lingers but the beer is otherwise clean. Carbonation is high and forceful/fizzy for my liking, as well.

Draft @ Newark Airport, full size pour (22 oz.) at the regular inflated airport price... Clear golden yellow color. Short white head. Aroma’s of grains and hop(leave)s. Flavor is light sweet, light hopbiiter, light fruity. Light bodied. Finishes with light bitterness. OK, but too unremarkable to bear the name craft lager (if they call it that).
