330ml can at School of Animals, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a slightly hazy red amber colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is toffee caramel malt. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, burnt treacle, earthy, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet but not overly sweet. Very drinkable.

Keyaki. Dark red brown colour, small golden head. Aroma is very malty, little bit of sweetness. Taste is good, nice malty body, bit of bitterness, bread, bit of spice. Slight sweetness. Decent.

Can from a supermarket. Pours reddish brown, at first lots of cream beige, off-white foam but that level gets lower as time goes by. Nose is bready, rye bread there, some light citrus and rowan berries. taste is bready as well, caramel character there with some relatively mildly bitter but quite grassy hops. Dry and medium bitter aftertaste. Decent food beer, reasonably hoppy and characterful but not too much so.

35,5cl can from a supermarket in Tokyo. Pours dark cherry coloured with an off-white to beige head. Malty and caramelly aroma with some fruity and almost candy-like notes, hints of sour berries and citrus. Medium sweet with medium to moderate flavour intensity and a subtle bitterness. Quite nice in the end.

350 ml can, thanks to Ingo! Sampled on June 12, 2015. Marked 5.5%.Clear copper color, small teal head. Malty, sweet, caramel scent. Malty, mineral taste. Thin mouthfeel, medium low bitterness.

Real ale version on tap at CBM Koenji. Clear ruby red color with zero head. Nice floral hop, rooibos, rhubarb and tea aromas on the nose. Medium body with creamy mouthfeel. Flat carbonation. As it warms up more of fruitiness comes out. Really smooth and rich finish with a tea-like dryness present. Bottle 330ml. [ As Iwate Kura Red Ale ].Clear medium red amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, nutty, tart red berries, dusty, tart, wood. Flavour is moderate sweet, light acidic and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, sweet fruity, malty, sugary. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Cask at Ushi-Tora, Tokyo. Deep amber color, small beige head. Aroma has plum and caramel. Medium-bodied. Sweetish plummy with caramel and light bitterness. Soft palate. Very well in its style.
