After 17 years, Summit Oatmeal Stout is finally available in bottles! Historically only offered on nitro draught, this dark, balanced beer will now be served in bottles offering a wonderfully different experience than on nitro draught. Still full and sweet, as the recipe has not changed, the bottled stout has a brightness to the flavor and a crispness to the finish.

nitro tap - Pours near black with the typical big, long lasting head of a nitro tap. It’s light tan and laces heavily. The aroma is of roast malt and coffee. The taste is similar and is sweet but not too sweet. Medium to full bodied. Very good.

Second day at GBBF 2013, devoted to mainly US ales. One-third pint of this one from gravicask dispense. Named Summit Brewing Vanilla Mocha Oatmeal Stout, 4.7 % abv. Spotty lacing, not much head, dark brown body colour. Earth and chocolate malts on the nose. Flavours of vanilla sweetness offset by dusty hops and mild coffee grounds. Malty, bittersweet tail. Velvety in the mouth. Fine bodied and tasty. (Backlog from London Olympia 14.08.2013).

Draft at GBBF 2013 - London. Pours black-brown with a light, white cream head. The aroma holds moderate milk chocolate and vanilla along with secondary coffee notes. Light-medium sweet flavor with mellow chocolate, vanilla-laced coffee, some bitter earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Pretty sweet to finish with Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, more milk chocolate. Tasty.

Sampled on draft at the House of 1000 Beers this beer poured a black color with a large foamy brown head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was toasty malts, cocoa, a bit of marshmallow and was a touch dusty. The flavor was dryish and roasty with notes of wood, cocoa and a touch of vanilla. Medium length dryish roasty cocoa and vanilla finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Decent.
