After 17 years, Summit Oatmeal Stout is finally available in bottles! Historically only offered on nitro draught, this dark, balanced beer will now be served in bottles offering a wonderfully different experience than on nitro draught. Still full and sweet, as the recipe has not changed, the bottled stout has a brightness to the flavor and a crispness to the finish.

Draft. Dark brown, massive thick nitro head. Aroma of weak coffee. Taste is Starbucks with a bit of crean and cocoa. OK.

Draught at Ike’s at the airport. Nice rich roasty nose, oatmeal, chocolate. Sweet, rich malt flavor, chocolate and cream. Nice and thick, creamy body. Good hop and burnt malt finish. Very nice.

Nitro Tap. Pours with a black body and a milk like tan head. Aroma of chocolate, fudge, vanilla and a ton of esters for a stout like this. Taste is oatmeal, leather, chocolate, more esters and some bitter roast. Creamy nitro mouthfeel. Best beer that I have had from Summit!

A deep dark stout with a thick moka head. A light chocolate aroma, faint and discreet. In mouth, a light silky stout with light cold coffee, a bit too light, but decent. On tap at Ike’s MSP, Sept. 13 2009.

Nitro at barcade - I agree with andy - this beer was very good - very creamy, and quite full in the mouth for the style - a ton of vanilla, chocolate, cookie dough, and a slight nuttiness - some espresso bitterness on the back end to temper the sweetness - I plowed through my pint of this.

Sample from tap at the brewery. Pours dark brown with an amber hue, head is a creamy light brown foam. Aroma is soft roasted malt, coffee and slight fruity. Soft mouthfeel. Flavour is mild malty, only slight sweet. Finish is roasted mild.

The best beer Summit has made. Maybe they are getting serious about brewing more styles and doing a good job with them. The aroma has coffee, chocolate, and wine. Black with a thick tan head that lasted until the end of the pint. Flavor was multi dimensional; coffee, chocolate, and a vinous quality with some fruit mixed in. Palate was a little on the light side for the style.
