Taster pour at the source. Appearance is dark brown with ring of light brown/beige head. Aroma is strong roasted coffee. Taste is mix of sweet and bitter roasted malt/coffee and a bit of chocolate. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture and soft carbonation and mix of sweet and bitter finish--like an espresso bean. Overall, coffee porters tend to be quite tasty, and this is no exception. It avoids being overly sweet or overly bitter but doesn’t have much subtlety.

Growler and a small sample from the tap at the source. Slightly hazy dark amber/brown color with a decent sized bubbly off white head. Aromas of caramel and light chocolate with some brown sugar and some earthy hop to balance. The flavor is fairly malty with lots of caramel and brown sugar with plenty of chocolate nuances to keep me interested. Light bitterness from the roast mixed with a light earthy hopping keeps everything in balance. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Nice clean porter with a great chocolate accent. Somewhere between a brown and a robust porter, I really enjoyed this brew.
