Can from Bert's Better Beers. Pretty close to opaque dark brown color, light brown head with pretty good retention. Aroma of burnt brownies dipped in espresso. Taste has dark cocoa, burnt embers and smoke, molasses, light vanilla. Very tasty.

Taster pour at the source. Appearance is very dark brown--almost opaque black--with ring of beige head and fair soapy lacing. Aroma is rich, dark roasted malts with surprisingly light smoke. Taste is smokey, light chocolate, roasted malts. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with frothy texture, average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, the smoke is more pronounced in the taste than the aroma and is not over the top. Nice mouthfeel.

Bottle thanks to Bob! Pours a near clear dark brown with a grayish brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has some smoke with earthy dark grain and a bit of roasted malts. Flavor has an earthy smokiness with done earthy dark grains underlying.

Bottled from Bert’s Pours a solid black color with a bubbly off white head that dissipates rather quickly. Smells of smokey campfire, chocolate, and caramel with an earthy edge. The flavor is sweet with caramel and chocolate offset with a solid but subtle campfire smoke. The earthy edge rounds it out nicely. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Nice porter with a subtle smokey edge that enhances rather than overpowers the beer like some others I’ve tried.
