This year they chose Skagit Pilot Pale, which they boiled for over eight hours, creating a rich, chewy brew. Then they aged this 2024 variant in Peated Scotch whiskey barrels for luxurious accents of campfire and earth.

Tasting Notes
Notes of smoke, oak, and leather flow over your taste buds in every dark sip. Raisin, toffee, and date tones course throughout, along with a whisper of underlying licorice. It all culminates in a touch of minerality and a winking booziness that nods at the big 14.3% ABV.

Capped 500 from Tavour. Pours semi-opaque dark brown with a slight but persistent tan head. Aroma of peat and malt. Full bodied. Flavor is nicely peat with some roasty/toasty malt in support. Not dry and barely avoiding sticky. Heat hardly noticeable. Extremely approachable for a peated ale. As RateBeer comes to a close, it's nice to put in an excellent ale.
