Porter beer's name refers to the London dock-workers drinking thick, brown beer to retrieve their energy and relax after a long day of work. Darker malts like munich and crystal give the Porter's sweet, rich taste while black malt is responsible for the velvety dark colour. It's traditionally made with upper fermentation just as the original Porter beers from London. The name 'cingulus' originates from the roman legionary's unique military equipment worn as a belt and also the black belt of the piarist monks.
With its mild coffee and chocolate flavour and scent this dark porter captivates your senses immediately. The flavour is dominated by the contrast of the malt's sweetness and the hops' and roasted coffee's bitterness. Cingulus Porter's smooth and creamy foam evokes the taste of it's classic english predecessors. It perfectly accompanies courses with beef or sweet flavours. During winter it can be the perfect base for mulled beer spiced up with chocolate, cinnamon and cream - no lady can resist it!

Bottled (thanks Kimi!). Deep ambery brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is toasted malts, some chocolate, mild ashes as well as some slight wooden and berryish notes. Flavour is mild roasted malts, some bready malts, mild berries, ashes as well as some slight boiled vegetables. This had the right elements, but still had erraneous flavours, which did ruin it.

Bottle at America Strikes Back, Ulfborg. Pours cloudy very dark brown with small light tan head. Sour and roasty aroma. Sourish flavour, with notes of metal and subtle, sweetish touches of malt and some sweetener. Metallic and sourish aftertaste. Pray tell me, what is this??!

Szép fekete szín, gyenge habbal. Édeskés-kesernyés íz, jól sikerült porter, bár nekem a porter nem kedvenc tipusom. However, Porters are not my favourites, I have to admit that it is a quite good beer.

On tap @ Corvin beerfest. Dark brown body, light brown head. Aroma dominated by dark fruits, but has some chocolate in it. Taste reflects the aroma. Lots of dark fruits and some chocolate. Very easy to drink. It’s an awesome beer!
