4oz pour at the Northern Virginia BrewFest. Poured a pretty clear amber color with a medium sized slightly off-white head. Aroma was some bready grain, touch of rye spice, nice juicy pine character. Flavor was balanced malt, some pine, mild citrus. Alcohol is there, but relatively well masked for 9%. Nice finish.

Dark red hued with tempting spicy, hoppy nose. The mouth is big bold with tons of malt and lots of hop, but the rye really shines. The mouth just has a perfect balance in hop and crystal malt with right amount of rye. Really nice character that will pleasure Rye IPA lovers like myself. Moderately bitter finish with spicy rye undertones. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours a reddish copper with a big sudsy head. The beer has aromas of resin and caramel, but it is not the most robust of noses. Flavor is nice. Sugary sweetness with a decent bitter hops presence, but it doesn’t have a ton of character to the hops presence. I’m struggling to pick out specific flavors, but it does balance well.

On draught at 1808 American Bistro. The beer pours a clear dark ruddy brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, tropical fruit and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of citrusy hops, melon, roast malt and pine. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Good IIPA overall.

It pours a very dark golden brown with a smallish head of foam but the lacing left behind is pretty impressive.
The smell is of very spicy hops. Once I get past that, some light fruit peeks through but just getting past that huge hop profile is a chore.
The beer is dank. Dank and spicy. Dank and spicy and semi sweet; the malt must be kicking in a bit. How aboot the booze, Bill? Yep, the 9% abv is kicking it on all cylinders.
To me, this is one of those brews that exceeds my comfortable level of bitterness. I do love hoppy beers but the combo of rye and that level of bitterness....I DO see how this beer would be well rated by the supreme hopheads out there.
Close if not full bodied, perfect carbonation.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours fairly crystal clear deep ruby red/copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, grapefruit, peach, mango, pineapple, orange peel, caramel, spicy rye, bread, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate caramel/rye malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, orange peel, caramel, spicy rye, bread, floral, grass, pine, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, orange peel, caramel, spicy rye, bread, pine, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hops and moderate caramel/rye malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent rye DIPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and caramel/rye malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

22oz custom bomber pours with a red to amber body that supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up spicy hops, some thin citrus hoppiness and a nice little rye twang followed by some mild maltiness. The taste starts with a pleasing mix of grapefruit, spicy hops and dank hoppy goodness. Those mouth watering hoppy notes are backed up by a modest sweet malty base. This has a pleasing balance between resiny bitter hops and flavor hops where the thin base holds it altogether. Yes.
