On tap. Pours a mahogany color with light head. Aromas of plums, grain, toast and sour malts. Flavors of meaty rye bread, over-ripe dark fruit, and malt extract. Tastes better than it sounds. Quite nice.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap ($5): Pours light brown with an off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, rye, some dirt, malts. Taste, in terms of the hops, is that of a good west coast DIPA. In terms of the malts, it is distinctly that of a rye beer. The two are wedded together almost flawlessly. The crisp character of the hops is in no way overshadowed by the malts or vice versa. Quite nice.

This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance has a nice dark red color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute in a concave fashion. The lacing looks real nice as it clings gracefully against the glass.
The smell had a nice light Rye malt inside of a subtle piney/citrus bittersweet aroma. Some nice spicy notes settle underneath with the previously mentioned flavors to combine nicely.
The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and combined them extremely well. The aftertaste had a nice long sweet Rye to spicy notes leading to a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was sharp but still had a gentle creaminess to it.
Overall, I say this was quite the complex beer as there’s a lot going on. Of course I would have this again.

Pours dark burnt orange color with light beige head. Aromas of rye, caramel and citrus. Citrus hops and spicy rye flavors with some caramel sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium to full body with average carbonation.

Bottle. Pours dark red with a bready, kinda boozy aroma. Has a nice bready flavor with a good amount of bitter hop flavor. The rye flavor sneaks in there too. Not exactly a poundable beer, but a good beer overall. Slowly enjoying this one.

A reddish amber ale with a thick creamy mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light floral hops, nice. In mouth, a nice fruity caramel malt with resinous floral hops, alcohol warmth, burned sugar, nice. On tap at Spuyten Duyvil.

On tap at BitterCreek Ale House, Boise Served in a tall stemmed (10oz)? Glass. Slightly hazy redish amber with a full and lasting rocky head. Big fresh sweet pine and juicy fruit aroma. Even through the head. More bitter and woody in the flavor with some Carmelized malts and slightly metallic old wood bitterness. Pretty big and brash Obnoxious even. Clean quick and fairly dry for a big beer.

Bottle. Sweet orange and peel hops and biscuity caramel malt aroma. Copper/amber with a large beige head. Resinous piney hops, orange peel, spicy rye, and biscuity caramel malt flavor. Medium body, moderate carbonation.

Hazy deep amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Palate is softish and a little dry. Fine carbonation. Light sweetish caramel malt and malt cream. Very skunky hops, bitter too. Light pine and ripe orange. Mild hop spice. Smooth finish with a good bitter linger. Skunky!

22oz bottle thanks to Matt. Pours out a amber topped with a small sand head. Nose is nice pine citrus caramel sweetness and a nice rye kick. Taste is as the nose with with a nice hop combo the only bad thing is the fact that I am not a rye fan.
