12 ounce bottle from Beer Run, opened 5/28/14. Pours a clear dark berry color with a medium sized foamy off-white head. Good head retention. Aroma of rye, berries, earthy hops, a bit of treacle. The taste is rye, toffee, caramel, berries, earthy, piney hops. Medium bodied, average carbonation, lingering bitterness. Solid.

Bottle shared at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Deep reddish amber with a stable off-white head. Aroma of malt, resinous and piney hops, a bit of caramel and some rye. Flavor has some sweet malt, a bit of caramel, spicy rye, resinous, piney and fruity hops and a nice bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice and very easy-drinking for 9%.

From bottle to tulip. Spicy rye, pine and resin mix well - all in moderate high amounts. Slight rich syrup in the back. Clear, deep amber with white head that leaves cloud bursts down the glass. Taste is moderate high spicy rye and forest with resin and hop oil. Caramel aspects. Moderate high bitter finish.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a large foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was bitter, tangy and piney with notes of resin, leather and floral hops. The flavor was very tangy and sweet with notes of pine, perfume, brown sugar, pepper, leather, a slight herbal note and a touch medicinal. Very long finish. Nicely complex. Full bodied. Quite nice.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark amber color, clean, with compact head. The aroma has some alcohol and fusels. Overall it’s a very caramelly brew, a bit chewy, although not thick or sweet; the hopping is quite resiny and a bit fruity too, very bitter; some alcohol perception.
Good beer.
