(Tap) clear, very dark brown colour with a small brown head; smooth palate; aroma of smoke, roast, some soy sauce; balanced flavour with a long, light bitter finish

(On tap @ Birreria Volo, Toronto, Apr 20/18) Pours black with a small pale brown head. Notes of dark malt with brown sugar and a little molasses, soft to moderate bourbon, dry moderate roast, ash, some vanilla, dark chocolate, woody drying quality towards the back end, lingering roast malt and a touch of bourbon as well. No real sign of alcohol heat. Very balanced overall, not extremely strongly concentrated but not watery. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Easily drinkable if not as punchy as the best beers in class.
