On tap at City Beer. Hazed orange pour with a lasting off white head. Aromas of sage, oregano, thyme, pencil shavings and orange. Very herbal. Flavor is earthy, thyme, pizza dough, pencil shavings. Some pepper. Lively bubbles. Dry.

Draft, City Beer Store. I was happy to try this beer, but it’s not something I’d order again. In my opinion, it’s only real value was as an experiment in transmitting a fresh herb flavor into a beer, and, in that capacity, it was a success. On the other hand, the beer is unremarkable to mediocre in every other capacity. Aroma is a huge wave of fresh thyme. It smells like pulling off branches from a bush and rolling them between your hands. It’s a lovely smell, but it doesn’t really make a beer. The appearance was a murky brownish amber with no head. The mouthfeel was fairly watery. Low carbonation for no real reason. Taste was sweet and bland. I just picked up some vague caramel. The beer was entirely too small for the big thyme note. I just picked up very little other flavor, and other patrons felt similarly. It’s an interesting effort and accomplishes something that I haven’t come across before, but it’s just not compelling as a beer.
