Indiana ReplicAle 2008 - Scottish Ale

draft at the brewpub - I think there’s some confusion about Mad Anthony’s Replicales. Last year’s version was a pale ale. This year’s is listed by the brewer as a Scottish ale. My understand is that Replicale is an annual thing where Indiana brewers share a base recipe. Then each brewery makes their own version with their own interpretation of the recipe. At any rate, this version is a light amber with a thin, linger head. It smells mainly of caramel malt. The flavor is led by the lightly roast accented caramel malt and some good hops that’s more noticeable than is typical for the style. It’s medium bodied and pretty drinkable.
