Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a fairly clear golden appearance with a long lasting off white head. Aroma is super nice. Funky / bretty, pineapple / white grape / pear nose. Juicy aroma. Fairly dry flavor. White grape / tropical fruity flavor. Some earth, funk, and a bit of cheese. Dry finish. A little bit of cardboard. Pretty fun to drink but not worth the ridiculously high price.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy golden yellow, thin white head. Big brett barnyard aromas, lots of tropical fruit. Sour taste, more tropical fruit. Not sure what the barrel aging has added, apart from more time from the brett to come through. Good though.

15/XII/13 - 37.5cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 9/VII/15 (2013-1150) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!
Note: damn, I though this was going to be the IPA version...
Clear light orange beer, fluffly off-white head, little stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: bit sour, tangerines, bit dusty, woody, mould, fruity. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, fruity, weird, little bitter, tannins, white grapes, pretty dry. Aftertaste: sourish, dry bitterness, some tannins, hoppy, some exotic fruits, citrus, bit sour, not bad but not super duper either.

Pours a pale gold color. Mild to moderate haze. Medium white head. It puffs up well at first and then settles down, leaving a fair bit of lacing on the walls of the glass. The aroma is sweet with wonderful complexity. There’s floral hops, wheat, white wine, French oak and light funk note. It’s earthy with light hops. Honey, chardonnay, sweet tangerines, peppercorns, fresh barnyard notes. The taste starts with that same floral/citrus sweetness and then dries out with a very tasty dose of French oak. The finish is earthy and funky with a bitter undertone. The oak and hops go together surprisingly well. Mouthfeel is a bit prickly and relatively light. Interesting beer and much better than expected. This is a lot more HF-ish than other HF/Grassroots collabs brewed elsewhere. That said, Mikkeller/De Proef has been doing some excellent work with sours and such, recently, so I don’t mean to take credit away from them. Anyway, this was a winner.
