Bottled (From Alko Prisma, Vaasa). Reddish amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is boozy, caramelly and some fruity notes. Flavour is boozy, caramelly, fruity and quite burnt sugary notes. Too boozy for it’s own good, especially as it hasn’t got any elements to balance the sweet alcohol up with.

330ml bottle by the courtesy of Finn. One-finger, off-white head slowly reduced to a ring to the rim of the surface. Poor lacing. Crystal clear copper coloured body. Sherry-like aroma. Flavoured with dried fruits, almond and bread. Malt-fruity ending joined by warming alcohol. Medium to full bodied. Fine sipper qualities to celebrate the National Day (Tromsø 17.05.2014).

33cl bottle. Mahogany color, thin head, near flat. As cold this is quite boozy, alcohol soaked plums. As it warms up, gets more pleasant, bread, raisins, plums. Quite sweet flavor, plums, bread, alcohol. Not the warming alcohol many of the quads from Belgium delivers in the finish, this is more sweet and boozier, rawer. Not totally bad though. Should be enjoyed near room temperature.

Flaske 0,33l fra Alko Muonio. Drukket i Skibotn 14 Apr 14. Mørk brun. Nesten ikke skum. Svak aroma av mørke plommer. Litt sherrypreg. Veldig myk munnfølelse. Mild smak. Mandler. Antydning til frukt men en fin tørr bitterhet overtar. Alkoholen ekstremt godt kamuflert. KI=4.

A reddish dark brown beer with a weak and blond head. The nose of bread, dark fruits, dates and dry wood. Taste of riped fruits, bread, some herbs. Bread is dominant in the end. Almost full bodied, still easy and nice to drink. Not very convincing beer, the focus is missing. Dark fruits and bread are not working together in this beer.

Bottle 330ml (Alko, BBE 01/2017)
Amber color, small off-white head. Glueish, apple and alcohol in the nose. A bit like in some East European strong lagers. Medium-bodied. Liquerish, boozy, apple, syrup, alcohol. Sweet, very little bitterness. Malt liquerish and raw. Way too much alcohol.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 290117, from Alko, 20140314) The beer poured mahogany oloured and clear. ITs head was small and white. Aroma had malts, sweetness and mildly grassy hops. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, a lot of sweetness, some toffee and low bitterness. Aftertasre was sweet and bitter. This is no Belgian style Quadrupel but an English Strong Ale or Barley Wine. Nevertheless the beer was too sweet at this point and also harsh.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 29.01.2017
Aroma is very light with some caramel and ripe fruits. Flavour is a bit odd with toffee typical to English ales, some ripe fruits, apricot and hay. Perhaps also some grass. Cannot taste the alcohol itself here, but a fusel-like grainy element is clearly present. Weird and medicine-like, nothing to do with Belgian quadrupels. More like English (very) strong ale.
