Many thanks to Finn for a 500ml bottle of this one. Bright dark brown body, creamy fawn-coloured head, quickly diminishing. Moderate aroma of ash and dark malts. Modest flavours of caramel and coffee added by sweet liquorice leading to a slightly roasted ending. Medium bodied. Flat in the mouth. Oily palate. Easy going stout (Tromsø 11.04.2014).

500ml bottle from Alko

BBE 7/8/14 - Pours dark brown, almost black with a tiny bubbly head. Aroma of chocolatey malts, hints of coffee, roastiness, ash, vegetables and earthy hay notes. Taste is smooth, watery and earthy with hints of coffee, harsh ashy notes. Finish is smooth, slightly bitter and earthy with some hints of roastiness and sticky sweetness. A bit messy.

Bottle 500ml from Alko
Dark clear ruby color, small beige head. Aroma of artifical chocolate-cocoa powder and coffee liquer. Medium-bodied. Malty flavor with sweetish "light blend" coffee and coffee liquer. Sweetish but with harsh finish. Somewhat lacks "stout" in it, more like a dunkel with an artifical coffee flavors.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 8.7.2014, from Alko, 20140215) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had sourness, coffee and roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, coffee, grease, sourness, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste had coffee, sweetness and bitterness. An unabalance, messy and unclean brew.

50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 08.07.2014
Aroma has coffee and artifical-like chocolate – I think this is the same chocolate than in their easter ale. Also some hay and vomit-like elements when taking a closer sniff. Flavour has cold coffee, some chocolate tones and hay. Finishes a bit unpleasant with herbal tones, some hay, ash and hints of grass. Feels watery. Not bad, but a disappointment still.
Aroma gets worse at the end of the glass and so does flavour. Even some metallic savors do occur.

Bottle from local Alko, Helsinki. Best Before 12/7/2014. Colour is dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Mostly coffee, hints of dark chocolate and roasted malts. Could be deeper and softer.

A dark brown beer wtih a hansom, big and beige head. The nose is dark malty, coffee, soem chocolate and hint of lemon. Taste is dominated by bready malts, also lots of bitter coffee, hint of chocolate. Coffee in the end. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, should be more strenght. I didn’t totally understand what was the purpose of this beer, lots of coffee but it wasn’t fit very well to other flavours. OK, anyway.
