Originating in Einbeck, Germany, the Bavarian pronunciation of the now world famous town is ’billy goat’! Maltier, stronger and darker than you dare! Think Bavaria, clinking steins and merriment as the perfect accompaniment to this homage to Dopplebock!

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Sainsbury’s like 7-8 years ago. Pours clear copper with a foamy, off-white head. Moderately sweet, rich malts, some berries, minimal bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Decently sweet finish but not cloying, more robust malts, lightly ripened berries. Drinks fine.

Bottle from Crafty Pint. Appearance - dark brown going into mahogany. Head disappeared quickly. Nose - demarara sugar into molasses. Taste - more molasses with a liquorice edge. Palate - medium to full bodied with a big tangy and sweet middle section and a finish that is fairly balanced. Overall - enjoyable.
