Zo hoort een echte Dubbel te zijn. Diep robijnrood van kleur, de schuimkraag licht crème. Karamel en iets van chocolade in de geur. Licht zoet maar niet te, en weinig bitter. Heel subtiel iets van geroosterde mout in de afdronk. Gebrouwen volgens een eeuwenoude kloostertraditie met graan en hop uit de streek en met het zuiverste water. En vooral geen haast, het bier krijgt bij ons echt de tijd en aandacht die het nodig heeft. En dat proef je.

Bottle 33cl. from the brewery @home poured into a teku glass. Clear amberbrown, tall frothy beige head, half-way lasting, light lacing. Aroma toasted malt, caramel, liquorice, kopiko, haagse hopjes, light spicy notes, warm impression. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, caramel, raisin, dark fruit, spicy notes. Medium body, watery to oily texture, slightly cloying, soft carbonation, malty sweetbitter aftertaste, some coffee groundings, bit sugary at the end, very nice.

330ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Yeasty fruity and slightly yeasty spicy as well as minimally toasty and nutty, caramel malty aroma, hints of plum, cherry, dried fruit, raisin, a touch of blue grapes and black pepper. Taste is slightly toasty, caramel and slightly dark malty, slightly yeasty fruity and minimally meatallic, bitter hoppy, hints of dried fruit, subtle, minimally sugary, residual sweetness, minimally peppery, yeasty spicy overtones. Watery texture, slightly dry, simultaneously minimally cloying palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Nice aroma, a tad more simple in taste - nothing spectacular.
