Bursting with coffee, chocolate and caramel flavours as a result of the complex malt profile. The hops complement the malt flavours for a rich & traditional porter that is smooth and well-balanced.

Bottle at parents house, from Abbots Ale House Bottle Shop - thanks to the old man, 27/01/13. Very dark mahogony brown with reddish hues and a tight tan cap that retains well. Nose carries roast malt, milk chocolate, quite a soapy dose. Taste comprises roast malt, dark fruits, chocolate, light molasses, tobacco. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry finish. Ok stuff.

Draught. Jet black with a tan to grey head. Aroma is sweet roasted malt, chocolate and some blackcurrant. Flavour is much the same, light testure on with a dry sweet finish. Very drinkable

Draught at The Porterhouse, Dublin. Hardly see through black, creamy head. Mid dry, dense and roasty . A meaty Irsish porter/stout, more full bodied than you’d expect from a 4.4% beer. Choclate mud cake with raw licorice. Long bitter finish.

Draft @ Bull and Castle, Dublin.

On tap at Porterhouse Covent Garden. Black beer with thick beige head. Roasty toasty and creamy in mouth. Some roast charcial. Fairly lught but enjoyable necking beer. Tasty enough.

Draught @ Bull & Castle, Dublin. Very dark brown. Chocolatey aroma but cocoa/coffee accent. Lightish body. Vaguely fruity with some bread character. For whatever reason, this simply didn’t resonate with me.
