White Shadow

Pivovar Kaltenecker in Rožňava, Košice, Slovakia 🇸🇰

IPA - Wheat / White Summer
Score
6.34
ABV: 6.5% IBU: - Ticks: 35
The beer is produced as Grand Champion 2013 in collaboration with Antal Németh, the winner of the international competition Slovak Homebrewing Star 2013. It is a “white IPA”, i.e. a wheat beer, which with its distinctive hopping and fermentation falls into the style of India Pale Ale. The colour of the beer is characterized by a dark yellow-golden colour. The beer is not filtered, so any cloudiness is caused by the yeasts present in the beer. The aroma is very pronounced, pleasantly aromatic, with strong notes of tangerine and sour exotic fruits.

0.33l bottle. Malt dominates in aroma. Pale golden colour, low white head. Malty taste, I miss a hops domination. Light body, bitter aftertaste. Average IPA.

Bottle @ Benzai, medium sample. Slight hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of some wheat, bit yeasty, slight flowery and grassy hop. Slight sweet in taste, bit wheat, some bitterness, yeasty. Mediocre stuff.

Bottle [from Euro Swap 2016-1] @ home shared with Caesar. Hazy orangy color with yeast residu floating in it, averge sized off-white head. Not a lot of aroma other than wheat and yeast. Taste wheat, yeast, quite bitter, a hint of orangepeel. Ok body and carbonation.

Quite good, dense yellowish head, stable and leaving lacerings over orange-golden beer with a slight haze. End of bottle UFO’s. Wheat - and diacetyl. Toasted malts, beery nose, herbs. Bitterish, and quite hoppy; New World hops. Diacetyl proved volatile, and is as good as gone in the flavour. Some toasted malts/other grains in the finish, straw. Spritzy carbonation, qutie wheatslick. Quite decent. Ďakujem, Peter!

3/VIII/15 - 50cl bottle from a trade @ holidays - BB: 30/VIII/15 (2015-1034) Thanks to motelpogo for the trade!

Cloudy beige beer, small irregular creamy white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, grains, sweet, honey, bit oxidized, like an old IPA. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very malty, bit sweet, honey, very bitter and dry, fruity touch. Aftertaste: grassy, very bitter, bit medicinal.
