The beer is produced as Grand Champion 2013 in collaboration with Antal Németh, the winner of the international competition Slovak Homebrewing Star 2013. It is a “white IPA”, i.e. a wheat beer, which with its distinctive hopping and fermentation falls into the style of India Pale Ale. The colour of the beer is characterized by a dark yellow-golden colour. The beer is not filtered, so any cloudiness is caused by the yeasts present in the beer. The aroma is very pronounced, pleasantly aromatic, with strong notes of tangerine and sour exotic fruits.

500ml bottle at home courtesy of Cuso, many thanks. orange quite hazy color. small white head. smells of black currant jam, gooseberry, milky, some sweetness. medium body, average carbonation, a scratchy mouthfeel. tastes citric, a bit astringent, light pines & grass which get overshadowed by some sweetness, again some weird berry notes, light herbs, some ash notes. herbal / weird fruity finish. hmm, not too crazy about this one, not a fan of the smell, taste is slightly better, overall the taste is a bit weird.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color, topped with an average sized and quickly settling white head. Surprisingly mild aroma, some very gentle fruity notes and just a hint of wheat. Taste starts with some sweet fruity feel, immediately followed by a heavily spicey hops and decent bitterness. Slight soury feel in the finish. Not a bad one at all, but I expected more from it.

BOTTLE 50 CL from Cuso BB 13/10/2014.
Look: cloudy amber-red, small light tan head.
Aroma: caramel and homey sweetness, almost no hops to be found, fruity.
Taste: some wheat crispness and body, caramel sweetness from start to finish, nice clean maltiness, extremely harsh aspirin-like bitterness that starts early and stays long.
The malts are nice, but where are the hops? And I haven’t had such bad bitterness for a very long time.

Jun ’14. A 0.5 l bottle kindly shared by the Slovakian RB crew, thanks! It poured hazy golden to orange body with a small head atop. Citrus hop aroma, a bit more typical although still not really cascade (what I see now it’s true). Lightly smoothed with toasted malt. Flavor was lightly bitter, pleasant, citrus hoppy, spicy in herbal (pine?) way and somewhat grainy within its toasted malt. Medium bodied with long, pleasant finish showcasing mostly citrus hops. Best beer of the evening up to the point.

500ml bottle, thanks to my Summer Secret Santa! Pours hazy copper with receding white head. Orange pith, wheat, yeast, funk, lemon, fruity tropical notes, mango. Interesting taste and took a while to decide if it works. I’m veering towards yes.

Bottle 500ml. @ home on the terrace. [ As Kaltenecker White Shadow 15° ].[ Trade by Cuso ]. Light unclear medium orange color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange, mandarin, tangarins, citrus. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, mandarin, orange, citrus, hoppy, dry. Body is medium to medium full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140426]
