This German-style Altbier is our nod to an old world, old school ale. The word “Alt” is German for "old", and refers to the traditional style of brewing before lager yeast was discovered. Balt is a dark, copper colored brew with a creamy head, a gentle bitterness and a clean, dry finish. Prost, Hon! Cask with figs.

Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont in DC on cask: pours musdy brown with a loose cask head. Aroma is figs, caramel, light earthiness. This beer very simply takes a good altbier (which is better on cask than the bottle) and adds figs to it, which is an excellent combinayion. That said the fruity addition is not overbearing. Nice balance. Great session.
