Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a murky brown color with faint amber highlights and an enormous foamy beige head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was malty and toasty with faint golden fruit and tobacco. The flavor was toasty and malty with strong golden fruit, pear, honey and faint notes of caramel and tobacco. Medium length finish with a bit of alcohol coming through. Moderately full bodied. Well done.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours murky brown with a beige head. Aroma is caramel, booze, hint of smoke, and toffee. Taste has some bite from the alcohol. Smoke is pretty subdued. Sweet, but not cloying. Certainly a sipper in my estimation.
