Behold the subtle power of a beer whose simplicity of elements belies its complex spirit. Pilsener malt, noble Hallertau hops, lager yeast, and deep well water. By scaling up these simple ingredients we’ve turned the German pilsener "imperial" and made one of the world’s most refreshing styles of beer bigger, rounder and even more enjoyable.

Mild aroma, possibly corn. Crystal clear amber, headless. Honey, hay, cereal grain, good intensity and richness of flavor. Grass and husk bitterness, but certainly a malt forward German style pilsner, aside from the intensity.

Bottle at Fastelavn Smagning 2014 @ J&C’s beer palace, Jutland Saturday Session 1 - 01/03/14. Pale golden with moderate off white spotting. Nose is pale malts, cereals, corn, pretty basic. Taste comprises caramel, pale malt, grassy pangs, lightly toasted bread, cereals. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok stuff, not ’hopped up’ which is what I normally find in US pils, not saying that’s a bad thing but this is truer to style.

Bottle, 75cl corked. A small, dense, white head on top of a clear, golden body. The aroma is sweetish and faintly grainy, with some alcohol and a hoppy fruityness. The flavor is on the sweet side, with fruityness and some pale malts. Hints of spent grains. Not as much bitterness as it needs in my opinion. Full to medium body, with a soft carbonation level. Lasting grassy and piney finish. Sort of interesting, but nothing wonderful going on. 140301
